An Erwin woman was injured Monday evening when she was thrown from a boat on Boone Lake near Sonny's Marina, the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency said in a news release.
Miranda Johnson, 29, sustained severe injuries and was taken to Johnson City Medical Center for treatment.
The TWRA said Johnson and Brandon Anders, 25, Johnson City, were boating on the Watauga arm of the lake downstream from Sonny's Marina about 7:30 p.m. when their boat, a 17-foot Stratos, hit a wake and turned sharply, ejecting both Johnson and Anders.
Both were rescued by people in a passing boat. The empty Stratos continued traveling in circles until TWRA officers stopped it.
Responding agencies included Washington County EMS, the Washington County Sherriff’s Department and TWRA. The TWRA continued to investigate Tuesday.
