BLOUNTVILLE — Prosecutors say they may seek the death penalty for a Bristol woman accused of robbing and killing an elderly neighbor. Meanwhile, a Bristol man accused of trying to help her cover up her crimes has pleaded not guilty to several charges.

Rachel Lynn Calhoun, 41, and Willie Mack Coleman, 61, both of 1148 Reedy Creek Road, Bristol, Tenn., are accused in connection with the death of a neighbor, Johnny Shankel, 73. Both made first appearances in Sullivan County Circuit Court on Friday.

According to police, Calhoun called 911 on Feb. 6 to report her neighbor was dead in his home. She later confessed to killing Shankel, and Coleman admitted he tried to help her cover up her crimes, police said.
