The Johnson City Press has had the good fortune of having employed some extraordinary people over the years. Perhaps one of the most memorable from our newsroom staff was Edgar “Eddie” LeSueur. Eddie was respected for his skills as a photographer and admired for his compassion as a human being.
For 43 years, Eddie and his camera captured life — both its joys and its tragedies — for this paper. The entire Press family was saddened to learn of his death Sunday at the age of 77. Our condolences go out to his family and friends. Eddie was truly one of a kind.
And he truly loved what he did. Eddie was a masterful news photographer, who always seemed to be in the right place at the right time.
He was also an accomplished portrait photographer, who was as much at ease taking a candid shot of a blushing bride as he was snapping a page-one photo of a visiting politician.
We will miss Eddie, but we can still appreciate what he saw behind his lens through the extraordinary work he has left us.
