Roe to vote 'yes' on GOP plan to cut spending, raise debt ceiling

July 28th, 2011 2:04 pm by Hank Hayes

U.S. Rep. Phil Roe pledged Thursday to be a "yes" vote on a House GOP plan to cut spending and raise the federal government's $14.3 trillion debt ceiling.
The vote on the plan is expected to happen later today.
In a conference call with reporters, Roe said the House GOP plan advocated by Speaker John Boehner called for $917 billion in cuts with a $900 billion increase in the debt ceiling. Then a bipartisan commission would be expected to recommend $1.8 trillion in further spending cuts with another $1.6 trillion increase in the debt ceiling, Roe, R-Tenn., added.
