July 28th, 2011 7:31 am by Staff Report

Johnson City police this morning announced that a Jonesborough teen had been charged with stealing from a vendor at Freedom Hall Civic Center's Independence Day weekend fireworks celebration.
Coltin Wayne Gregg, 18, 180 Gregg Town Road, Jonesborough, was arrested Tuesday and charged with theft of property over $1,000.
A police report said Gregg's arrest resulted from an investigation into theft of property from Whimsy Children's Toys, a vendor set up at the annual fireworks celebration at Freedom Hall July 2.
The victim, identified in the police report as Michael Roberts, told police someone stole a money bag from his booth while the lights were turned off for the fireworks.
The bag contained about $750, according to the report.
Gregg had apparently since been charged with other offenses and was being held at the Washington County Detention Center. Johnson City police served him with the theft warrant from the fireworks celebration on Wednesday.
Gregg was being held at WCDC on $15,000 bond.
