July 27th, 2011 6:59 am by Laura Vela

With payment deadlines approaching and no reply to their requests for Congress to help with the financial crisis, the United States Postal Service is investigating the possibility of closing approximately 3,700 retail offices across the nation, including 3 in East Tennessee.

The East Tennessee branches under consideration are the Briceville branch in Anderson County; Eidson branch in Hawkins County; Eagan branch in Claiborne County.

Representatives from the Eidson and Briceville branches were unavailable for comment.
