Dancing with the Tri-Cities Stars was held Saturday at Johnson City Country Club, with a sold-out audience on hand to watch local celebrities compete.
At the end of the evening, Shirley Carrier was the People’s Choice winner, Grant Summers was favorite male dancer and Debbie England was the favorite female dancer.
On Monday, organizers estimated the event raised $52,000, and in light of this success said a fourth Dancing with the Tri-Cities Stars will be held next year.
Mike and Kim Adler, who achieved World Champion status with their professional partners and as a couple with the United Country Western Dance Council, taught the dancers and performed with them Saturday night.
Each competitor did two dances, with the women wearing original pieces from Randall Designs, which were worn for ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars.” The $100 ticket price included a gourmet meal by Troutdale Kitchens.
Additional funds were raised through silent and live auctions. Proceeds will go to SteppenStone Youth Treatment Services, a Tri-Cities treatment center that helps boys who have emotional and behavioral problems. SteppenStone provides treatment in a residential setting along with day treatment, after-school treatment and outpatient treatment.
