Adapting the Elvis Presley slogan, ‘Taking care of business,” the Daniel Boone Lady Blazers defeated Morristown 17-4 on Thursday in Memphis to win the state 11-12 year-old state tournament.
Macy Bishop went the distance on the mound for the win. Hitting stars included Abby Harrison, who went 4-for-4 with a home run and a double with four runs scored. Lindsey Laughrun also went 4-for-4 with a double and triple, and also scored four runs.
Rhetta Persinger went 3-for-4 with three runs scored, and Christina Blevins went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and Rachel Vittetoe went 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Other members on the state championship team include: Macey Dance, Courtney Hurt, Hannah Crawford, Abby Wilson and Jackie Painter.
The Lady Blazers now advance to the Southeast Regional in Warner Robins, Ga., where they will meet the Georgia state and defending World Series champion on Thursday at 1 p.m.
