NEWPORT (AP) — A Cocke County couple face animal cruelty charges after 41 dogs were found inside their mobile home.
Animal control officers rescued the animals on Sunday, according to WVLT-TV in Knoxville. One of the dogs was found dead.
Virginia Daniels and Lloyd Donnie Webb face charges.
Newport Animal Control director Lisa Layman says the stench was overwhelming and she was surprised all of the animals were inside a trailer.
The dogs are recovering at the Newport Animal Shelter which will eventually make them available for adoption.
