Man shot in East Tennessee road rage incident

KNOXVILLE — A road rage incident this morning on Interstate 275 left a man with a bullet wound to his ankle, police said.

Knoxville Police Department Sgt. John Shelton said authorities were alerted at 12:26 a.m. by employees of St. Mary's Mercy Medical Center of a shooting victim in the emergency room.

The victim told officers he had been traveling north on I-275 near the Woodland Avenue interchange when he began interacting with the two male occupants of a small black vehicle that had been tailgating him.
