Hawkins deputies arrest five, seize Georgia pills after tip

July 20th, 2011 11:27 pm by Jeff Bobo

ROGERSVILLE — Hawkins County deputies seized a cache of oxycodone pills Monday night that originated in Atlanta and arrested five people including a Georgia couple accused of importing the powerful painkillers.

It was the second batch of Georgia pills seized in Hawkins County in less than two months. On June 3, the Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit seized pills from a Bulls Gap residence that allegedly had been imported from a Georgia pain clinic near Chattanooga.

Hawkins County Sheriff Ronnie Lawson told the Times-News Tuesday his Narcotics Unit received a tip from a reliable source Monday evening that a quantity of illegal pills would be delivered from Atlanta to 403 S. Rogers St. in Rogersville about 10 p.m. Monday for the purpose of resale.
