NORRIS — After searching for several hours, officials this morning determined two 14-year-old girls reported missing on Norris Lake apparently were safe in their Knoxville beds.
“Apparently, one of them had called their father to come pick them up,” said Union County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Mike Butcher.
Butcher said authorities are still trying to piece the story together and have sent an officer to Knoxville to verify the two teens are safe. Authorities about 9 a.m. learned the girls had returned to Knoxville.
