July 12th, 2011 12:07 pm by Staff Report

KNOXVILLE (AP) — Knoxville firefighters have found the body of a man in a house where they extinguished a fire.

Capt. Mark Wilbanks says the call came in shortly after 7 a.m. Tuesday and firefighters found heavy smoke and saw flames when they arrived.

A preliminary search didn't find anyone inside, but Wilbanks said a subsequent search after smoke had cleared found the victim in the kitchen and living room area of the home, according to The Knoxville News Sentinel.

Wilbanks says the victim's wife arrived home from work while firefighters were at the house. The victim's name wasn't immediately released.
