Police: Squabble over cat prompts man to point gun at neighbor, child

KINGSPORT — A 66-year-old Kingsport man has been arrested after allegedly pointing a gun at his neighbor and a toddler, telling police he was angry because they were feeding his cat.
Kingsport police records state the incident occurred shortly after 7 p.m. Friday at 3131 Tiffany Court. The resident, who was holding a 19-month-old girl, told police his neighbor had pointed a revolver their direction and threatened to shoot.
The suspect, Heyward R. Coker, of 3151 Tiffany Court, was not preset when police arrived. As they interviewed potential witnesses Heyward returned, allegedly saying the incident occurred because the neighbor was feeding his cat.
