Johnson City police spotted a van recently stolen from a local business and found that the driver was carrying marijuana, according to a news release.
Andy Jones, 37, no address available, Johnson City, was charged with motor vehicle theft, being a habitual motor offender, possession of a schedule VI drug and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police said officers spotted a white commercial van, which had been reported stolen from a local business on June 27, traveling south on South Roan Street.
Jones reportedly told police he had bought the van for $500 from an unknown Hispanic male, according to the police report.
After taking Jones into custody, police found two baggies containing “a leafy green substance believed to be marijuana” and rolling papers on his person.
Jones was jailed in the Washington County Detention Center on $17,000 bond pending a Sessions Court appearance today.
