Police: Johnson City man locked up young kids alone during beer run

July 10th, 2011 8:18 am by Staff Report

Johnson City police arrested a man Saturday on charges that he locked his young children up alone while he went to get beer and later hit one of the kids with a speaker he threw during an argument with their mother.
Jason Davies, 33, was charged with child neglect, resisting arrest and simple domestic assault.
Police went to 814 Hamilton Street around 6 p.m. Saturday on a domestic disturbance call and learned that Davies had left his two children, ages 3 and 1, at his home locked in a bedroom unattended while he went to get beer, police said in a news release.
His girlfriend and mother of the children came home to find the children unattended, police said, and Davies returned to the residence heavily intoxicated and he became combative.
He spit on his girlfriend’s shoulder, picked up a large stereo speaker and threw it, hitting one of his children in the leg, police said.
Davies was jailed in the Washington County Detention Center on $22,000 bond.
