July 6th, 2011 9:13 pm by Madison Mathews

Johnson City police have identified the body of a man found underneath a Brush Creek bridge Wednesday evening near West State of Franklin Road. The man's death remains under investigation.
Officers responded to the creek near the intersection of West State of Franklin and West Watauga Avenue at 6:30 p.m. in reference to a body in the shallow water, Capt. Debbie Botelho said Wednesday.
According to the police report, Kyle Steven Look, 27, reported the body to officers. Botelho said Look had discovered the body after spotting an unspecified amount of money near the creek.
“He had observed some currency down by the creek and when he went down to investigate that, then he saw the deceased underneath the bridge,” she said.
Police identified the body as 57-year-old William Templin, who Botelho said was known to police.
When officers and emergency personnel arrived, they discovered the Templin’s body. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The JCPD’s Criminal Investigations Division was called to the scene, however, Botelho said foul play was not suspected.
“CID will always investigate any kind of unattended death until they find out exactly what happened with that person,” she said.
Templin's body was taken to East Tennessee State University’s James H. Quillen College of Medicine to undergo an autopsy.
