Police arrested a Johnson City man Tuesday after a woman reported her apartment had been burglarized.
Charles R. Partin, 44, 145 Buchanan Road, was charged with felony aggravated burglary.
Police said Carla J. McCurry, 40, 512 Swadley Road, Apt. 60, reported that when she came home about 9 p.m. Tuesday, she noticed several pieces of paper on the floor and a liquor bottle on her coffee table.
As McCurry walked through the apartment, she noticed an unlocked window screen had been removed, giving Partin access to the apartment, police said.
McCurry’s friend, Benny R. Carver, 40, was checking another bedroom in the apartment when he found Partin hiding in a closet, according to the police report.
Partin reportedly followed Carver into the living room where he was confronted by McCurry, who knew him.
After being asked why he was in the apartment, Partin reportedly the two he was “here to kill Mike,” who was someone McCurry had been dating. Police said Partin “was upset with Mike for the way he had been treating” McCurry.
The investigation indicated that Partin had removed the screen from a back bedroom window to enter the apartment, police said in a news release.
Partin was jailed in the Washington County Detention Center on $20,000 bond pending a Sessions Court appearance Wednesday.
