CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Police in Clarksville say a 32-year-old woman left three young children inside a SUV with the windows cracked open about six inches.
Officer Jim Knoll says the children, two 8-week-old boys and a 5-year-old girl, were in the back seat of the vehicle, when officers arrived just after 1 p.m. CDT Sunday.
Knoll says the temperature outside the car was 92 degrees, while a heat sensor inside the car registered a temperature of 106 degrees.
Knoll says the mother of the children, Mia Dade of Clarksville, left the children for almost 15 minutes while she went into a store.
Dade has been charged with three counts of child abuse and neglect. She was in the Montgomery County Jail on $15,000 bond.
Knoll says the children were with family members.
