Greeneville man charged with second-degree murder in shooting of brother

GREENEVILLE — A Greeneville man was charged with second-degree murder Friday after he allegedly shot and killed his brother, according to the Greene County Sheriff’s Office.
Officers responded to a call about a shooting at 7:30 p.m. at 1695 Shelton Mission Road in which they found David Ray Nelson, who reportedly had been shot to death by his brother, Richard Kenneth Nelson.
The two men were involved in an argument prior to the shooting, according to Officer Brandon Baskette. As the argument continued, Richard Nelson reportedly grabbed a 12-gauge shotgun and shot David Nelson.
David Ray Nelson was pronounced dead at the scene.
Richard Kenneth Nelson was being held in the Greene County Detention Center in lieu of $125,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Greene County Sessions Court Wednesday.
