A Georgia man was arrested Sunday and charged with first-degree murder by police officials in Colorado Springs, Colo., for his alleged involvement in the weekend stabbing death of an Erwin man.
According to a release from the Colorado Springs Police Department, officers responded to a reported stabbing early Sunday morning. Upon arrival, officers found in a parking lot a male who had suffered several stab wounds.
The victim was identified as Patrick Hampton, 31, of Erwin. According to police officials, Hampton was transported to a hospital where he died from his injuries.
Colorado Springs police later arrested Michael Jonathan Ray, 32, of Georgia. Ray was charged with first-degree murder.
The release states the El Paso County, Colo., coroner's office would complete an autopsy on Hampton, and that the official cause and manner of his death would be released afterwards.
