Carter Co. school smashed in hit-and-run crash

ELIZABETHTON — Valley Forge Elementary School sustained approximately $500 in damage in a hit and run accident on Sunday morning. Capt. Jeff Markland of the Carter County Sheriff's Department talked with Tim Lyons, a custodian at the school, who told him a vehicle had hit a fence post and also the building, causing damage to an electrical line going into the school.

Markland said a full-size white Dodge truck had backed up to the dumpsters at the school. A loud noise was then heard as the truck hit the school. Three women were seen picking up the fence post they had run over, put it in the back of the truck and fled the scene.
