Police said a city man was arrested after he hit another man on the head with a skillet.
On Saturday night at around 11:15, Johnson City police arrested Richard Mainor, 34, 305 E. Maple St., after the alleged assault was reported when officers were flagged down at 108 1/2 Wilson Ave.
Police said witnesses at that address told officers Mainor hit the man with a skillet, then took and broke his cellphone. Additionally, police said, Mainor interfered with another witness at the house who was trying to call police before he collected the damaged phone, got into a vehicle and left.
The vehicle was found, police said, and Mainor was arrested. He was charged with aggravated assault, theft from a building, vandalism and interference with an emergency call, and was taken to the Washington Count Detention Center, where he was being held on a $25,000 bond. His arraignment was scheduled for Monday afternoon in Sessions Court.
According to police, the man he was accused of assaulting was taken to Johnson City Medical Center, where he was being treated for a laceration to the back of his head. In a press release issued Sunday evening, police said that man was listed in stable condition.comments powered by Disqus
