GALLATIN — A Gallatin High School assistant football coach has been arrested after police say he had a sexual relationship with an underage former student.
Keith Duggin, 28, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with two counts of aggravated statutory rape relating to two sexual encounters that occurred at his Gallatin apartment this summer with a 17-year-old who graduated from the school in May. Police say the two had sexual intercourse twice.
"Once she told a couple of her friends, it started getting talked about among the students," Gallatin Police Department spokesman Bill Storment said. "Then one of the teachers found out about it and reported it to the school resource officer."
Investigators located Duggin, a history teacher who has been employed by Sumner County Schools since 2012, at football practice on Wednesday. During an interview, Duggin "confessed to the allegations" corroborating the former student's story, according to an arrest affidavit.comments powered by Disqus
