NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Supreme Court has set an execution date for Lee Hall, who was convicted in the 1991 death of his ex-girlfriend.
The Tennessean reports the court set a Jan. 12, 2016, date for the death of Hall, former known as Leroy Hall Jr. He is at least the 11th condemned inmate to have an execution date scheduled.
Hall was convicted of first-degree premeditated murder and aggravated arson in the death of 22-year-old Traci Crozier, who died hours after being set on fire.
The date is part of a push by the state to begin executing death row inmates again, though several dates have already been pushed back by a lawsuit challenging the secrecy of Tennessee's new lethal injection procedures. The Tennessee Court of Appeals heard arguments in the case Monday.comments powered by Disqus
