Police: Man stole vehicle from JCMC patient

George Pealer

Police arrested a Morristown man after he was alleged to have stolen a vehicle from a patient at Johnson City Medical Center.

On Friday, Johnson City police arrested George E. Pealer, 46, 324 N. Hills St., one day after the investigation into the alleged theft began.

In a press release, police said that, on Thursday, Pealer took the patient’s vehicle while he or she was checked in to JCMC. The patient told officers, police said, that Pealer refused to return the vehicle or tell him or her where it was being kept. Officers caught up with Pealer, police said, after he was arrested on a charge of public intoxication and taken to the Washington County Detention Center.

Pealer was charged with theft of property over $1,000 while he was in custody at the WCDC, where he was being held on a $10,000 bond. His arraignment was scheduled to take Monday afternoon in Sessions Court.
