Speed, alcohol blamed for fatal Kingsport crash

KINGSPORT — Kingsport police believe speed and alcohol use played a role in a fatal head-on collision Saturday morning on East Stone Drive that left one man dead and two other people with possible injuries.

The deceased was identified by the Kingsport Police Department as Bobby D. Jarrett, 50, of Church Hill.

According to police reports, Jarrett was traveling east in a 2007 Kia Spectra on East Stone Drive in the vicinity of Tyson Lane when he was struck head-on by a 2006 Honda Accord driven by Samuel G. Huffine, 27, of Kingsport.
