Head to Carter courthouse starting Friday to vote early

ELIZABETHTON — For the second time this year, the early voting will be taking place at the Carter County Courthouse. The early voting period begins this Friday for the Carter County General Election and for the state Republican and Democrat primaries. The early voting will continue through Aug. 2. Election Day is Aug. 7.

Voting will take place in Conference Room 205 on the second floor of the courthouse. Voting hours will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, Monday through Friday. Voting will also take place on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon.

All eligible voters may participate in the county general election. To vote in the state primary election, a voter must select to vote in either the Republican or Democratic Primary.

Voters must show a state of Tennessee or a federal photo identification when they appear to vote. This requirement is the same for early voting and at the polls on election day.
