MEMPHIS — Ken Netherland, who won the most games of any high school football coach in Tennessee history, has died. He was 74 years old.
Netherland's wife, Sharon Netherland, confirmed Monday that Netherland died Saturday at Baptist Memorial Hospital.
Matthew Gillespie, the assistant executive director for the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association, said Netherland had a career mark of 368-131-3 and owned the state record for victories.
Netherland spent his career in the Memphis area, where he coached at Hillcrest, Germantown, St. George's and Lausanne. He won state titles at Germantown in 1983 and at St. George's in 2007.
Netherland retired from coaching after the 2013 season at Lausanne.comments powered by Disqus
