CASA, Crumley House set for big events

Two of the region’s most uniquely beneficial nonprofit services are gearing up for the their largest fundraising events of the year and looking for sponsors, golfers and party goers to help.
Court Appointed Special Advocates of Northeast Tennessee’s 9th annual benefit golf tournament is lined up its for Monday, Aug, 18 at Johnson City Country Club. Niswonger Children’s Hospital has already signed on as event sponsor for the tournament that helps CASA recruit and train volunteers to speak up for local children who have been sexually and physically abused as they await a Juvenile Court’s ruling on their placement.
Hole-in-one sponsorships are available for $1,000 and include tournament and marketing recognitions and free entry for two golfers. Beverage and snack cart sponsorships are $500 and come with recognitions and a representative on the most popular carts on the course; and hole sponsorships are $250 and include recognition on a tee box. All sponsors will be included in all print, radio and television advertising for the tournament and invited to help fill the player’s goodie bags with promotional items.
The tournament entry fee is $150 per player or $125 for those who register before July 18. Tee times are available at 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Lunch is included along with an opportunity to meet and play with local sports celebrities and media personalities and a chance at more than $10,000 in prizes.

The Crumley House Traumatic Brain Injury Rehabilitation Center in Limestone will host its annual Polynesian Beach Party Saturday evening, Aug. 9.
A tropical flavored celebration of the generosity of contributors’ who make The Crumley House’s residential and day programs possible, the festivities will begin at 4 p.m. with nostalgic tours of the Powell Family Tractor Museum, featuring more than 60 restored 1937-60 Farmall Letter Series tractors under roof in a renovated barn on the neighboring Powell farm. The party will start at 5 at The Crumley House and will include live and silent auctions, a Polynesian-style dinner and live music and dancing with The Spirit of Soul Band.
Sponsorships and large and small items for the auctions are needed. All proceeds will help The Curmley House provide programming to increase the cognitive, physical and occupational abilities of people who have suffered traumatic brain injuries. Tickets and sponsorship information may be obtained by contacting Michelle Ferguson at The Crumley House at 257-3644.
To help advance the fight against colon cancer and assist a longtime employee of The Wellness Center with the cost of his treatment, Mountain States Health Alliance will host a benefit, July 4th 5K Friday morning beginning at 9 at The Wellness Center at 200 Med Tech Parkway.
The “Run for Ron” road race is being held in honor of Ron Renfro, a personal trainer at The Wellness Center for more than 20 years. The course will follow Knob Creek Road to Sunset Drive and North State of Franklin Road back to center. Walkers and strollers and pets are also are welcome. The entry fee $30 on the morning of the race or $25 for those who register early at The Wellness Center or at Foot Rx at 3135 Peoples St. All entry fees will go to the American Cancer Society and all proceeds from race sponsorships will be used to help Renfro with expenses not covered by insurance.
