MT. JULIET — Crews in Mt. Juliet have safely rescued a horse named Boomer after he fell into a sinkhole earlier this morning.

Boomer was sedated during the rescue and was sleeping comfortably soon afterward, according to Lt. James Copas with Wilson County Emergency Management Agency.

WEMA units tried to free the trapped animal for hours. A veterinarian and a wrecking service were called to the scene off Nonaville Road.

More on the horse rescue is available from our partners at The Tennessean.
