Failure to stop vehicle leads to charges

Bethany McClellan

A Johnson City woman was arrested on several driving-related charges Tuesday after police attempted to pull her over.

According to a Johnson City Police Department news release, Bethany McClellan, 171 Knob Creek Dock Road, was charged with felony evading arrest after officers tried to pull her over near West Market Street and West Watauga Avenue for other traffic violations. They said McClellan accelerated and refused to stop her vehicle, later evading two other officers.

Officers eventually apprehended her at a local hotel. She is facing charges of felony evading, driving on a revoked license-sixth offense, resisting arrest, reckless driving and other traffic offenses.

She was being held on $36,000 bond at the Washington County Detention Center and is scheduled for a Sessions Court appearance on June 26 at 1:30 p.m.
