Man found dead in Greeneville creek; police seek help in case

GREENEVILLE — Greeneville police are asking the public for help after locating a deceased man in a creek, according to a press release.

Emergency personnel located the body of Robert Luther Young, 33, lying face down in a creek between the Greeneville Commons and Justice Drive. Young was listed as homeless and relatives out of state have been notified. Detectives believed he came from Indiana.

He had been dead for an undetermined amount of time, but estimates say he had been dead for at least a couple of days. The reason it took a while to find him is because the creek is not in a heavy traffic area and has a lot of weeds around it, according to GPD Detective David Crum.
