Pool caper: Man accused of taking more than $500 in cash from wallet at student apartment complex

Carson Hughes

Police found a Johnson City man with a wad of cash allegedly stolen from a woman's wallet at a pool in a student apartment complex on Sunday.

Carson Hughes, 30, 1315 Indian Ridge Road, Apt, 104, was charged with theft of property over $500.

Police were called to the pool area at the Heights at 1301, formerly Campus Ridge Apartments, 1301 Seminole Drive, where a woman reported that a large amount of cash had been stolen from her wallet. Police said they were told Hughes might have taken the cash. Searching him, police found a "significant amount" of cash in his pocket comparable to what the woman reported stolen.

Hughes was jailed in the Washington County Detention Center on $5,000 bond pending a Sessions Court appearance today.
