Johnson City police arrest alleged tool thief after surveillance images released to local media

Clarence Adam Williams

Surveillance images appearing in local media helped Johnson City police nab an alleged construction site tool thief on Wednesday, police said.

Clarence Adam Williams, 21, 120 Cedar Grove Road, No. 3., was recognized as the man who stole more than $1,900 worth of power tools from a residential construction site on at 243 Degrasse Drive on May 3, police said in a news release.

Police released the images to local media on Friday. The images showed a dark colored Pontiac — believed to be a late 1990s to early 2000s Grand Am — pull onto the site. A white man wearing tan pants and a white shirt exited the vehicle. The man loaded up tools valued at more than $1,900 from the construction site before leaving.

Williams was arrested about 3 p.m. Wednesday. He was jailed in the Washington County Detention Center on $5,000 bond pending arraignment today in Sessions Court.
