Accused Johnson City burglar captured in Arkansas

Michael B. Dugger

A 22-year-old Johnson City man accused of burglarizing an apartment last year has been captured in Arkansas and brought back to face local charges.

Michael B. Dugger was charged Monday with aggravated burglary and theft over $500 resulting from a May 21, 2013, incident.

Police said the victim reported that he when he returned home from work, several items were missing from his apartment. He gave police the name of a someone he thought had information about the case. That person admitted to police that he intentionally left the apartment's back door open so that Dugger could easily burglarize the residence.

Dugger fled the state soon after the burglary. He was arrested on unrelated charges in Arkansas and extradited back to Tennessee because of pending charges in Carter County. He was taken from the Carter County Sheriff’s Office to the Washington County Detention Center, where he was jailed on $25,000 bond awaiting an appearance later Monday in Washington County Sessions Court.
