Police: Ex-employee cashed checks stolen from auto detailing business

Thomas Earl Williams

Police said a former employee of a Johnson City auto detailing business used a stolen checkbook to cash a series of forged checks from his employer.

Thomas Earl Williams, 29, 128 Leach Drive, No. 306, was charged Sunday with five counts of forgery and six counts of theft of property under $500.

On March 25, Tri-Cities Automotive Detailers, 4 Worth Circle, No. 4, reported to police that checks had been written and cashed from a stolen checkbook. Police said all of the checks were written to Williams, a former employee of Tri-Cities Automotive Detailers. A bank confirmed that Williams had cashed the checks.

Williams was booked into the Washington County Detention Center on Sunday and held on $11,000 bond pending a Sessions Court appearance today.
