Freedom Hall closed for electrical upgrades; ticket office will move

Renovations on the Science Hill Campus have reached the Freedom Hall Civic Center, which will need to relocate its administrative and ticket offices due to electrical upgrades at the facility.

The center will be closed for approximately two to four weeks starting Tuesday while electrical upgrades are under way. Freedom Hall staff will temporarily relocate to Liberty Bell Middle School, Room 429. This is the first school building across from Parking Lot B.

“This is part of the final electrical upgrades at Liberty Bell, and it’s in the final phase,” said Lisa Chamness, center director. “It affects not just the arena, but also the Johnson City Schools’ food program. They cook out of three kitchens during the summer, and one of those is here.”

Chamness said the Freedom Hall Pool also will be closed, and the Park and Recreation Department’s Fit Kids Program will not operate during renovations.

“The timing worked out very well,” she said Friday. “We were notified by the Jehovah’s Witnesses that their regular summer event here, scheduled for June 12-15 and June 19-22, was relocated to another location for this year. We do have a concert Friday night, so we won’t be moving until that is over.”

Chamness said the upgrades are expected to take two weeks — four weeks at the most.

“Were asking people to come into the driveway and pull into Parking Lot B, where both our administrative services and box office will be located,” she said. “People can continue to purchase tickets. We will be available.”

All phone lines are being transferred to the temporary location, so business should carry on as usual.

“We’ll be back in for the July 4 Pepsi Independence Day Celebration and Fireworks,” Chamness said. “We also have Disney Junior Live! here on Sunday, July 20. There will be two performances of Pirates & Princess Adventures.”

Directional signage will be placed in and around the FHCC/Liberty Bell Complex to assist patrons. Patrons are encouraged to visit www.johnsoncitytn.org/freedomhall for event information and ticket purchases. The box office can be reached by calling 461-4884. The administrative office can be reached at 461-4855.
