A 16-year-old boy who suffered a gunshot wound earlier this week has been charged with lying to police about how he was shot.
Police said the teen, whose name was not released because of his age, was charged with false reporting and being a juvenile in possession of a handgun.
Police responded to an apartment in the Carver neighborhood around 10:20 p.m. Tuesday. The 16-year-old boy was shot in the leg and taken to a local hospital for treatment.
In a news release Thursday, police said evidence from the investigation showed that the boy was not wounded in the way he originally told police.
The boy was issued a citation Thursday to appear in Johnson City Juvenile Court and released to his legal custodian.comments powered by Disqus
