MURFREESBORO — One of the independent candidates running for Rutherford County mayor said she could not explain a dead varmint attached to one of the campaign signs in the front yard of her Murfreesboro home.
Heather Ann Brown said she could not go into details during a telephone interview about the corpse of a possum adorning one of her signs. Brown will face off against Teresa St. Clair, who is also an independent, and incumbent Mayor Ernest Burgess, a Republican, in the general election on Aug. 7.
“I think that possum’s been out there for a while,” Brown said. “I don’t think this story is going anywhere."comments powered by Disqus
