Is the Johnson City Commission listening? Commissioners have stated they do not like the moratorium on annexation and may have to raise our property taxes. I would think we all like to see them take care of what you have now and not take on any more responsibility.
We in North Johnson City — in the Englewood subdivision — have been neglected for too long. We have no clearly marked streets and no speed humps, whereas the surrounding neighborhoods have speed humps.
This stretch is a speed haven for some and during the school year people use Englewood as a shortcut to and from Indian Trail school. Just in the last week someone hit a utility pole. How? There were no cars coming and none parked on street and sunny and dry day. If it was an hour later it could have been worse since there were children walking home from school.
The noticeable lack of clear street markings on all aspects of Englewood is well evidenced. How many times has UPS or FedEx had a hard time finding an address? More importantly how many times have EMS or the fire department gone to the wrong home or have been delayed a few precious minutes looking for correct address?
Also I have seen very little, if any, police patrols through the neighborhood day or night. Are we residents going to have to wait until a serious accident, someone hurt or EMS was delayed?
