KNOXVILLE — An elementary school girl going to her bus stop Friday morning ran into the street while being chased by a snarling dog and was struck by a truck.

The girl, described by other students as an 11-year-old West View Elementary School student, was rushed to the University of Tennessee Medical Center after the 7:16 a.m. incident.

The girl’s name and condition were not immediately available.

“She was scared because a dog was chasing her,” said one Northwest Middle School student awaiting a bus at the corner of Keith Avenue and Giffin Street. “It was barking at her.”
