KINGSPORT — Tennessee, Kingsport and Heritage Glass officials today announced the company will invest $15.8 million to begin new glass manufacturing at AGC's old Blue Ridge facility off Lincoln Street.

The facility will employ 120 people short term and up to 300 long term, city officials indicated.

The Kingsport Board of Mayor and Aldermen this morning approved a $2.6 million contribution agreement to allow the Kingsport Economic Development Board to acquire the site excluding the corporate headquarters facility and lease it back to the Heritage ownership group.

"Heritage Glass appreciates the encouragement and support the state of Tennessee, the city of Kingsport, and NETWORKS Sullivan Partnership are providing for this project," Heritage Glass President Eric Kerney said in a prepared release. "It will quickly bring 120 jobs to the area, and even more jobs after future expansions. The business-friendly approach of Tennessee makes us proud to establish operations here.
