Police: 911 caller said Johnson City man was prying open window

A Cherokee Road man was arrested Monday morning after he was caught leaving a residence he had just burglarized, Johnson police said in a news release.

Robert Jeffery Shinn, 45, 1410 Cherokee Road, was arrested after police responded to a 911 call about 8:10 a.m.

The caller, who had locked him or herself in a room, told 911 that a man prying open a window to the residence. Police identified neither the caller nor the residence's location in the news release.

A family member, who was close by, arrived and found Shinn leaving the residence. Police took Shinn into custody and took him to police headquarters for further questioning. He was later charged with aggravated burglary and theft of property under $500. He was jailed in the Washington County Detention Center on $21,000 bond pending a Sessions Court appearance Tuesday.
