Kingsport police say gravel drug found in motel room; four facing charges

KINGSPORT — Four people were taken into custody on multiple drug charges over the weekend in connection with 20 grams of Alpha-PVP, or gravel, that was discovered in a Kingsport motel room.

Three of those arrested — Donnie Cox, Sashia Griffin and Daniel Barrett — were the targets of an ongoing investigation by the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office Vice and Narcotics Unit.

Cox, 56, Bewley's Chapel Road, Midway, Tenn., and Griffin, 24, Bloomingdale Road, Kingsport, were apprehended Friday at the Super 8 Motel on Lynn Garden Drive, while Barrett, 47, Hawaii Street, Kingsport, left the scene before being questioned.

Barrett was taken into custody Sunday at the residence of George Lawson, 45, Pearl Street, Kingsport.
