Man dead, child missing after Sevier cabin fire

One man is dead and a child is missing after an early morning fire that ripped through a three-story cabin outside Sevierville.

Authorities late Saturday were still combing through the ruins and trying to determine the cause of the 4:30 a.m. blaze at the structure, part of the Cabins at the Crossing development at 1647 Little Cabin Loop.

When fire crews arrived, about 75 percent of the cabin was engulfed in flames, and several people were still inside, said Perrin Anderson, Sevier County spokesman.

“Many had minor abrasions, some had broken bones,” he said.

The injured were taken to LeConte Medical Center. Anderson didn’t give a precise number of people or any details on the dead man or the missing child.
