Washington County commissioners have a part-time job with full-time benefits and should have those benefits at least cut in half. Those who voted to keep their benefits seem to be the same ones who say “no” to most of the proposals by County Mayor Dan Eldridge.
The mayor has had a lot of good ideas, but most of the county commissioners seem to have their self-interest and “stop the mayor” as a priority. I feel those who are always saying no are holding back progress in this county and should give up their seat.
Actually, all those who are going for their third term or more should resign and leave those seats vacant. We only need 12 commissioners or less.
The mayor is the only person we are voting to re-elect. Mike Rutherford has too much history with so many commissioners. He most likely will not be able to make decisions based on need rather than friendship.
