Norris starting year at Dunedin; will debut Sunday

April 3rd, 2014 6:02 pm by Trey Williams

Toronto Blue Jays pitching prospect Daniel Norris will begin the season at Dunedin (Fla.) in the High-A Florida State League.

Dunedin is opening the season tonight against Clearwater (Philadelphia Phillies) at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium.

The 20-year-old Norris, a Science Hill graduate and three-time Johnson City Press Super 22 Player of the Year, told the Press on Thursday that his first scheduled start is Sunday.

After a rocky April last year, the hard-throwing left-hander finished with 3.97 ERA, 100 strikeouts and 46 walks in 90 2/3 innings. Norris pitched the final five of those innings for Dunedin after spending most of the season at Lansing.

See Saturday’s Johnson City Press for a story on Norris.
