Kingsport police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a man who allegedly robbed a 71-year-old man at gunpoint.
At 7:30 on Saturday morning, police said, the man was leaving a friend’s house on Radcliffe Avenue when a man armed with a handgun approached him and demanded his wallet or cash.
Police said the man told them he gave the gunman an undetermined amount of cash, then watched him leave in a car. The man was not injured during the alleged robbery.
Police described the gunman as white, 5-feet-10-inches tall, with a medium build. During the time of the alleged robbery, police said, the man was wearing a military-styled camouflage jacket and pants, but wore a tan ski mask and sunglasses over his face.
The alleged gunman’s car was described as being gray or brown, with tinted windows, and what police described as “side-swipe” damage to the driver’s door, which appeared to be old and possibly painted over. The alleged victim did not tell police, however, if the vehicle was a two-door or four-door. Police said the man told them he saw another person in the vehicle who appeared to be wearing a knit cap.
Police are considering the alleged robber to be armed and dangerous.
Anyone with any information regarding the incident is encouraged to call the Kingsport Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division at 229-9429, or Kingsport Central Dispatch at 246-9111.comments powered by Disqus
