Clinton Freeman got things started for the East Tennessee State baseball team. Then he finished the game off.
Freeman’s RBI single in the first inning put ETSU up and he earned a two-inning save on the mound as the Bucs beat Northern Kentucky 6-3 Friday night in an Atlantic Sun Conference game at Thomas Stadium.
Dylan Tritsch, who had the game-winning hit in ETSU’s 4-3 win over Stetson last Saturday, had a solo home run in the third inning.
Chris Cook went 3 for 4 as ETSU (12-12 overall, 3-1 A-Sun) banged out 10 hits. Matt Sorrow drove in a pair of runs. Eight of ETSU’s nine starters got at least one hit. Jeremy Taylor and Tyler Roach also drove in runs.
Austin Hutchinson (3-1) held the Norse (6-17, 1-3) to three runs over seven innings. He picked up his second A-Sun victory in as many starts. Freeman came in to start the eighth and pitched two perfect innings to earn his fifth save.
The two teams will continue the series today at 1:05 p.m.comments powered by Disqus
